Introducing Brain Breaks: A New Scratch ’Ems Deck for Classrooms and Families
Every teacher knows that sometimes the best way to help students focus is to step away from the lesson—just for a minute. That’s where brain breaks come in. These short, engaging activities help kids recharge, reset, and get ready to learn again.
With our brand-new Scratch ’Ems Brain Breaks deck (coming soon), we’ve created a tool designed specifically with teachers in mind. Each card is packed with a quick activity—whether it’s a mini game, a movement challenge, a mindfulness moment, or a fun conversation starter.
Created With Teachers, For Teachers
Teaching runs in my family—my mom, aunts, and even my grandmother, who was a principal. So I’ve seen firsthand how important it is to have tools that actually work in real classrooms. That’s why I didn’t just design Brain Breaks on my own. I had teachers test them out with students, making sure the activities were practical, fun, and easy to use in the middle of a busy school day.
Scratch, Play, Repeat
Like all our Scratch ’Ems decks, Brain Breaks adds a layer of excitement. Students scratch off to reveal their activity—but here’s the twist: you only scratch the card once, and then the fun doesn’t stop. The cards are designed like a traditional deck, with a patterned back and sturdy keepsake box. Once scratched, just shuffle them back in and pull them out again when it’s time for another break. The ideas never get old, and you’ll always have a go-to set of activities at your fingertips.
More Than Just for the Classroom
While teachers will love having Brain Breaks as a classroom tool, these cards are just as helpful at home. Parents can pull them out after school, before dinner, or anytime kids need a screen-free moment to calm down, laugh, or get moving. They’re a simple way to encourage mindfulness, play, and connection—no prep required.
Why Brain Breaks Matter
Research shows that short breaks improve focus, reduce stress, and build classroom community. With Scratch ’Ems Brain Breaks, teachers and parents have an easy, reusable tool to make those moments happen.
