LUCKY BEARS: A NATIONAL PARKS GAME

A family-made game inspired by a love of national parks

Lucky Bears was created by a mom-and-daughter team, Stacy and Annabelle, during Annabelle’s senior year of high school. Like many families, they spent years visiting national parks together—collecting memories, spotting wildlife, and talking about which parks they wanted to see next.

They wanted to create a game that captured that feeling. Something fun, simple, and replayable. A game that celebrated U.S. national parks without turning them into a lesson—and that families would actually want to pull off the shelf again and again.

Lucky Bears started as an idea at the kitchen table, was successfully funded on Kickstarter, and grew into the game it is today.

How the Game Works

Lucky Bears is a board game for 2–4 players, designed for ages 8 and up. Most families can learn how to play in just a few minutes, and a full game takes about 15 to 20 minutes.

That makes it easy to fit into real life…after dinner, on a weekend afternoon, or while traveling.

The game is simple to pick up, but never feels repetitive.

What Makes Lucky Bears So Fun

One of the things players love most about Lucky Bears is that it includes 63 unique tokens—one for each U.S. national park. Every game features a different mix of parks, so no two rounds ever feel exactly the same.

The bears themselves keep things exciting. Their movement and interactions change the game as you play, adding surprise and momentum without making it complicated.

For families who want even more variety, there’s also a special Grizzly Bear pack that adds an extra twist and keeps experienced players on their toes.

More Than Just a Game

Lucky Bears also includes a mini book about the national parks, giving players a chance to learn a little more about the places featured in the game.

Kids often start asking questions as they play—Where is that park? Have we been there? Which one should we visit next?

It’s learning that happens naturally, through curiosity and conversation, not instruction.

Why Families Love It

“This national parks game is such a favorite with my family. It's at the table at least once a week and often more.”

Parents love that the game is easy to learn and doesn’t drag on. Kids love the bears and the changing gameplay. And families love that it’s a screen-free way to celebrate national parks together.
